Absentee, absentee. (Want Comments?)

Mon May 11, 2009, 6:15 AM
- Unimportant Journal Ahead - (and please don't mind the subject; I'll explain in a second.)

I've said it a thousand times before, but yeah. Got tired of seeing that last journal, so here, have this one. :XD: -- I'm completely into my roleplaying thing right now, and as a result, my written ficlets have been neglected. Making them presentable takes enormous amounts of energy, which I simply don't have, since it's all being funneled into my RP plots. Why? 'Cuz it's fun. :XD: - Even if it's not capable of making a mark on history or anything, it's still fun. Plus, the muse wants it. Damn muse.

I'll be back sometime, but expect only fave-and-runs until then. In fact, I may have to wipe my Message Center clean when I "come back officially," which means a lotta pending stuff'll go unanswered. ^^; I apologize with due embarrassment. :please:

There is one thing I wanna try, though -- and don't get your hopes up; this is just an experiment. If you want me to comment on a deviation of yours, reply to this journal and link to it. Tell me what kind of commentary you're looking for, and I'll see if I can deliver. Due to the above circumstances, I likely won't be in the shape for anything indepth, but I can at least give it a shot.

...at least, I hope I'll give it a shot. :ohnoes: - It'll be an entry on the to-do list, if nothing else. (Like that needs any more additions, but y'know. :XD:)

On a sidenote. Apparently I can dress my journal up with CSS now? Option seems to be there, even though I'm not a subscriber. Scary stuff; I don't know where to begin. :ohnoes:

Program terminated.

Monthly Journal (Incomplete; Update #1)

Fri Mar 13, 2009, 9:48 AM
UPDATE: Decided to post some memes. =3

**Original Entry**

There hasn't been much coming from me in the way of activity lately -- not in journals, comments, submissions, what have you. My watchlist is gunked again. I promised myself I wouldn't do that. :XD:

DeviantART has gone on the back-burner due to that roleplay site I'm always talking about. It's been taking up all my time and creative focus lately; I haven't even made time for my personal writing projects. XD -- It's just as well, for I really am enjoying myself and I've been a fair bit of happy because of it. I just haven't made room for anything else. It might well stay like that until the roleplay in question goes out...

I may editwhip this journal into shape and make it a full Monthly, or I may not. I'll likely be doing it piece by piece at any rate... I haven't even completed the next stage of that Big Character Meme thing I was doing last journal. :XD: -- So I'll have some different memes when I touch this up.

:bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: - Featured Memes - :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink:
-------------------------------------------

We got two this month. First off is the Series Feature, which you may remember from the January Monthly.

:fellaright: - ** Series Meme ** - :fellaleft:

The series featured for February is Fire Emblem 6!

:bulletpink: - Favourite character.

I haven't been with this one long enough to give a definite answer. Dieck and Dorothy are both pretty cool, though.

:bulletpink: - Least Favourite Character.

Probably Saul. Zealot, too, partly because he's a weak unit and partly because he took Juno away from me. :XD:

:bulletpink: - Character with the best hair.

Now here's a category with some broad selections. Nearly every female in the game has a hairstyle that looks great on them and matches their personality fairly well. Sofiya's is impossibly long; I can't imagine how she could grow it to such length out in the desert and not have daily fits with it. ^^;

Lalum's looks pretty cool, though. Basically, you take her hairstyle and stick it on Inuyasha's Yura, then add some FE9 Crow Laguz wings; bam, you've got my character Seri. XD -- I also really like Juno's hair.

:bulletpink: - Character with the best eyes.

Toss up. Miledy, Sofiya, Juno, and Lalum all have really pretty eyes (though the lattermost's also look similar to Lilina, IIRC). Default to Sofiya just because they're so big and soulful. They definitely lend that "draconic" feeling to her, too, which works because she's half-dragon and all.
:iconblushplz:

:bulletpink: - Character I'd most want to kiss.

Another tough one, but it's Fire Emblem, a series that just wouldn't be itself without jaw-droppingly beautiful women, so that's to be expected. A more appropriate question would be who wouldn't I kiss. :XD:

That said. Sofiya takes first place: she looks too much like my original incarnation of Arlia for comfort. :XD: -- For second place, Dorothy and Lalum are tied.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd most want to romance/court.

You know, when BF first added this question, it read "character I'd most want to screw." Frankly, I wouldn't be able to do anything like that without a hefy bit of emotional affection: hence the above. :aww:

I'm tempted to say Sofiya simply because you can't go wrong with the demure ones. My first pick would actually be Juno, except for the simple fact that she's married to Zealot. Freakin' Zealot.

:iconarghplz:

:bulletpink: - Character I'd make lunch.

Not Clarine. :XD: -- I might like doing it for Lilina or Fa. Even Roy. He strikes me as being especially gracious, just like his father, so I wouldn't mind doin' stuff for him. He'd be a pleasure to serve.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd go singing in the rain with.

I don't do the whole rainsinging thing. XD -- That said, Fa seems like the type, so she's an easy choice. I'd like to see Fa and Lilina do it together.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd go shopping with.

Hard call. Don't know what the standards are on Elibe, so...anyone other than Clarine, I suppose. Maybe Ellen.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd go dancing with.

Hell, I'll dance with whoever'll have me. First pick is Juno again (ZEALOT), but if I'm restricted only to unpaired lasses...I dunno. Whoever'll dance with me. Lilina's technically a princess and a fairly girly one at that, so maybe she's educated in matters of courtly dancing; I wouldn't mind having her teach me.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd take over the world with.

Regardless of Roy and his heroic motivations, I think Zephiel really did have the right idea because boy golly humans are bastards. Naturally I can't approve of him using mass slaughter to achieve it, but y'know. Zephiel was also competent -- an outright prodigy, and it shows in his stats -- so I wouldn't mind serving under him. Hopefully he'll make sounder decisions now that he's experienced what can go wrong when you ignore the Designated Swordbearing Hero and his band of misfits.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd most want to cosplay as.

Lance would be easy enough to pull off, I think. Zeiss wouldn't be bad either. Problem is I'd have to dye my hair. :ohnoes:

:bulletpink: - Favorite Het Pairing.

Haven't been acquainted with the game long enough to have a final word on this, and there don't seem to be that many to choose from, because according to the game all non-Roy pairings are unimportant. DX

That said. Roy/Lilina, to me, is one of those few canon pairings that makes so much sense it's hard to justify it not happening. Weirdly enough, my favorite non-Lilina pairing for Roy is probably Thany. Yes, Thany. They look rather cute together. X3

:bulletpink: - Favorite Yaoi Pairing.

Marcus/Roy, for laughs.
:iconimpervyplz:

:bulletpink: - Favorite Yuri Pairing.

...The brain coughed up Thany/Wendy. Don't ask me where that one came from.
:iconwthplz:

:fellaright: - ** ~OutOfTheOrange's Superhero Meme! ** - :fellaleft:

:bulletpink: - 1. Only you can save the world! Why the hell is that; what is your SUPAH POWAH. (Give yourself a snazzy moniker, while you're at it.)

Well. In a certain sort of storybook universe, I am a superhero already, but answering as that one would be too predictable. Let's try something different...

I like the whole psychic thing, really. My powers would be kinda similar to the Alters in s-CRY-ed, except manifested in forms of energy rather than separate outer beings. Meanin' I gets to shoot pew-pew lasers (fire, lightning, or even ice-flavored), fly through the air, make like a Jedi with me emotionsenses and telekenetics, and finally, do the DBZ thing and fire off the occasional KameHameHa. Maybe do some short-term teleportation and invisibility stuff.

...wow, I really gave myself the full ensemble, huh? :XD: -- Well. If I had to pick a single conventional power, it wouldn't be such an easy choice: they all have their advantages and drawbacks, and my mind would be too thoroughly on the latter to stick with a given batch. This City of Heroes superhero test I took online forever and ever ago said that my super power would likely be Magic, though...

Oh. The nickname. Right, nearly forgot that. Hmm...Amarante? I know it's not terribly original or descriptive, but hey, choosin' the powers was hard enough; don't make me choose a name too. o_o;;

:bulletpink: - 2. No hero's journey is complete without the presence of an awesome sidekick! Are they only awesome in that their loser-ness highlights your awesomeness? Whatever the case may be, describe him/her/it to me.

Great, now I gotta think up a sidekick. o_o; Well, ~cedrics's Scientist Boss was the boss in Atomic Bob canon...but somehow, I don't see her filling a sidekick role here. Hmmm.

Well. For a sidekick? How about we take Roy from FE6 and give him the superhero garb? Yeah, that wouldn't be too bad: sword-swinger thing happening. He'd be like late-season DBZ Trunks (though I'm loathe to make the reference), plus have all that fire control action he was doing with the Sword of Seals in the game. I don't know what kind of moniker he'd have, though. I'm not so good at this. Maybe he could be Atomic Blaze?

...What? Hey. Stop looking at me like that. I mean it; don't give me that look. So what if I'm unoriginal. Just drop it.

:iconverynotimpressedplz:

:bulletpink: - 3. I lied; you're actually not that awesome. With that in mind, why DOES your sidekick follow you around like that?

LIKE I DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THAT WITHOUT YOU TELLING ME, YOU GREAT BIG JERK

:iconcryingplz:

Anyway. If you really want to know why Roy's my boy, you should probably ask him. When I described him in "sidekick," I have to admit that the apprentice sort of sidekick wasn't really what I had in mind, nor would our dichotomy be like that. I'm thinkin' the term "partner" would be more appropriate. Best buds outside the superhero biz, too.

:bulletpink: - 4. Obviously, no self-respecting villain is going to let you have your heroic way in all this saving-the-world crap. Name and describe the dastardly fiend who leaps forward to stop you!

...

It's you, isn't it. I knew it. :iconnotimpressedplz:

Well, Dr. Eggman is a good standby. But he's not original; I'm gonna assume you want a supervillain outta my own head. Now I gotta create a villain too? Come on. D=

Okay, okay, lemme think. Maybe Levi, an old character standby. Sick little puppy who's all Chaotic Evil and makes like Valter wanting to destroy everything and feeding off carnage. Young slightly bishie kid with sharpened features and raggedy white hair; his body's all android underneath. Cybered to the gills, to the point where his body's constantly emitting machine noises: a super version of those high-powered Terminatoresque robots from the old PSX game Syndicate Wars. A lotta the same powers, too.

He can also make like Megaman and fire these charged up plasma blasts in either projectile or beam form; some of these blasts could concievably wipe out entire city blocks. Yeah, mix Megaman and DBZ and you get this kid. Same basic idea as this deviation here: [link]

:bulletpink: - 5. And what, exactly, is the villain's evil, evil goal?

Outlined above, for the most part, but he also has an intense hatred of me for some reason. On top of that, he wants to steal my woman and generally make my life a living hell. Thrives offa my pain more thoroughly than he does other folks', which is saying something in his case.

:bulletpink: - 6. A hero is not a hero without a love interest. Describe the role your Significant Other (imaginary or real) would play in your world-saving escapades...if they're even aware of them, that is.

This is perhaps the one question I was able to answer easily. =3 - A schoolgirl version of Arlia; same long pink hair, same blue eyes, but human version. Japanese sailor uniform, of course. (Yes, I'm unoriginal -- and never mind that my current age makes this version of her untenable as a love interest. It's fiction: I can be whatever age I want, dammit. Besides, it's Arlia -- freaking Arlia. If you know me, you knew this was coming.)

Well, the story goes that she's unaware of them at first. Maybe the damsel either I or Roy rescues a couple-a times. Eventually Scientist Boss gets ahold of her and powers her up to Superhero proportions: Arlia's powers end up being similar to Levi's, but more defensively oriented.

Kinda like this as far as appearance goes, but without the Transformers motif. Maybe mix that format with this, without the heart and catgirl motif obviously, and perhaps even upgrade to a smoother winged chassis at some point, all while seamlessly blending the best parts of the previous two looks.

Damn, I put more effort into her than I did me. :O_o: But hey. Girl characters are fun to make (even if remembering the technical terms for daily/modern outfits is a real pain), and Arlia's my personal darling after all. I should've expected it. Anyway, we all eventually become aware of each other and do this whole superhero team thing. Except she ends up with Roy instead. WHY. DX -- Or! Or maybe not. If we can have a Roy in this world, we can have a Lilina too. So he gets a love interest! ^.^ -- Lilina in the Japanese sailor schoolgirl uniform? Too hot. She could make that look work.
:iconpervplz:

No, I'm not gonna do Lilina's superhero attire. Not yet. I've wasted enough time. o_o;;

:bulletpink: - 7. You have a magical weapon, bequeathed to you by the gods/the government/your parents/a rock out of which ONLY YOU could extract said weapon. What is it, what is its Snazzy Moniker, and what makes it so special?

Fear your government the day it starts handing out magic weapons.

So this is like a Fire Emblem legendary weapon sorta thing, except I've gotta give it the superhero decor. Hmmm. Well, I'm thinkin' maybe a big energy-blade variant of the Sol Katti? Or even better; that fancy flaming blade Zero got in Megaman X: Command Mission when you whupped the final version of Ninetales. Except that's too close to the Sword of Seals and Roy's already doing the whole flaming saber thing. Plus I seem to remember that I was supposed to be a psychic...but I've conveniently forgotten that by now. o_o Anytime I think Corey-as-Superhero, we automatically go to Atomic Bob...

An upgraded Atomic Saber or something. I dunno. -_-;; -- Maybe I can rip Cloud Strife's Ultima Weapon? But no; there's no way of knowing whether or not that'd even look good with me. Plus the item in question has to mesh with my powers...

Forget it. I can't come up with anything. Roy gets his flaming Sword of Seals regardless.

:bulletpink: - 8. Every quest to save the world involves some sort of mystical glowy object. Both you and the villain need it in order to ultimately fulfill your respective goals, whatever they may be. What's the Mystical Object called, what is its function (does it grant wishes? Immortality?, Unlimited power?), and how can it be obtained?

Rather than coming up with such a thing myself, I'll be cheap and rip from a published source again. =D In this case, the Dark Elf from Megaman Zero 2. Scientist Boss probably needs it for some benevolent peacekeeping world-saving mission or another, so I'll rescue it for her sake; Levi wants it because it can upgrade machinery and make him even more of a badass than he is. Thus, once he has it, he no longer fear my petty hero team or really anyone. He bcomes the Godthing.

Seriously, if I devoted any substantial thought to making this plausible and flavorful, rather than the half-joke answers and shameless othercanon-ripping you're getting now, it would end up evolving into its own story. o_o;

:bulletpink: - 9. IT'S THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN OF ULTIMATE DESTINY. The final battle. It's just you and the villain now! How does it go?

That's drabble material right there, chief. There's probably a massive environment-breaking nuclear explosion at the end, though: one that's presumed to swallow our heroes alive and thus kill them off...until the happy, hopeful scene wherein they show up on the HQ's scanners or whatnot: miraculously alive with lots of body damage. Arlia, as an android, may be destroyed almost completely but there's still enough for SB to patch back together, even if her memory has to end up wiped and her personality reprogrammed from scratch, so it's as if she never met me. So in a sense my lady love is gone after all, even though she's alive. :tears:

Conjures up a scene. Manages to look back at me, sadly, and tell me that she loves me right before the Final Devastating Killer Move that wipes out the enemy facility, the Dragon, the Big Bad, and almost the heroes in that big environmental explosion we talked about earlier. Makes the realization that she's alive-yet-not all the more poignant.

:bulletpink: - 10. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU SAVED HYRULE AND YOU ARE A REAL HERO. How do you wrap up your epic adventure?

More drabble material, but I can't imagine it being any way other than the cliche. Lotsa happy tears, the world is saved, et cetera et cetera. Go back to your lives, citizens. Oh, and Roy marries Lilina. What? Stop that look, already.
:iconpissedplz:

Right, so...I know it hasn't exactly been a full month. It's been...a week shy of it, at least? (='D) Anyway, I'd originally planned to update this on the first of every month, but I don't see that working out, so...one journal entry at least sometime during a given month? Maybe?

That said, it's mainly the holiday that's makin' me type this up right now. Normally it just comes and goes, but I did end up having a little bit of fun with it. Other than that and a really cool meme, there's not much to talk about right now. Certainly nothing on the level of last occasion's Monthly. More rambles, a re-advertisement, and...nothing else that I can think of. Just ploddin' along.

:blahblah: about me shall proceed. Only the first Life Update point is likely to be relevant. (This means the previous Dull Monthly claiming it was for February is a complete lie now.)

-------------------------------------------
:flame: :flame: :flame: - FEATURED DEVIANT - :flame: :flame: :flame:
-------------------------------------------

This is my first time doing this, so go easy on me. Understand too that I'm not likely to have elaborate commentary when doing this sort of thing. I'm just gonna do a quickshot about what I like about this artist/writer/etc., and feature a few of my favorite pieces.

:flame: February's Featured Artist is :iconchoco-kun:!

I :blahblah:ed too much when I first typed this, so lemme give that another try. Mark tends to love drawing Disney stuff and women in classical, elegant dresses; it's fairly easy to guess what I presume his early influences were. :XD: He has some really adorable original characters, too, and a number of universes with colorful casts. In addition to standard deviations, he's done comics and proseworks -- one of those multitalented types, don'tcha know. Check 'im out. ^_^

:bulletred: Sketch Dump 00

- Cuteness? Yes. :D I think this picture pretty well summarizes the kinda things Mark's into. An adorable look, too. I love the trio of chibi sisters, yes.

:bulletred: My Princesses and Prince

- Do I even need to mention why I like this one? :XD: IT'S NOT BECAUSE I WANT TO GET THE PRINCE'S ATTENTION, OH NO

Seven pretty ladies, each representing a different type of archetypical princessly beauty, and in Mark's pretty style, too. I'll admit I'm a sucker for the Arabian one with the long red hair (and not just because she's showing a little stomach...).

:bulletred: Miss NekoNeko

- Hot lady. Very hot lady. :XD: Never mind the furry part; I'm typically not partial to furries, but this's an exceptionally lovely one. (And I'm sorry, but I have to say it: this is the style of Mark's I love best, see? Coloring, composition, everything: the works of his I'm fondest of are from this period. Sorry, Mark; I hope I didn't offend you by saying that. :( I love your stuff even now, truly, but the animecuteness of old is gold. To my prejudiced eyes, at least)

-------------------------------------------
   - Valentine's Day -
-------------------------------------------

This section almost can't be called a section. :XD: -- It has but one reason for existence, and that's to provide a shout-out to my dA Valentine. This one's for you, Sam.

---------
:iconcedrics:
---------

:blowkiss:

Havin' said that. I was originally going to feature some deviations from her, too, but...I'm a little tired out by now. Perhaps another month? I will say this, though -- she's a really awesome artist, and like Mark, she's another one that I've watched evolve over time. ~cedrics is into Dynasty Warriors (I think it's called), and Atomic Bob would not exist without her. She created nearly all the artwork in his Collection.

-------------------------------------------
:bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: - Life Update - :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue:
-------------------------------------------

** SUMMARY **

Almost the exact same as the month prior. Annoying, but good overall. A life without discoveries would be boring indeed.

:fellaright: -- 1. A Nami Still Needs Help!

As far as I know, anyway. And as far as I know, the journal pimping hasn't gotten her any business. (='D) - Regrettable, if predictable. Still, while I'm updating, I'll give it another go. Enter the COPYPASTE:

I got a friend of mine, see, named ~OutOfTheOrange, who's takin' commissions right now. Needs the money to help with college expenses and the like; her journal here explains the meat of it better than I can. And not only does she need the help, lads and lasses, but she is very worth your time in my opinion; to my eyes, her artwork is amazing. The prices are quite reasonable too, especially for the talent you'll be getting. I'm not for thinkin' you'll regret commissionin' that one.

And if you help her out, well, you'll have my appreciation too. :D Not that I'm tryin' to guilt you or anything -- I'm really not; it's just, if you've ever wanted a commission, or have been toying around with the idea of getting one, see this girl. The prices are good and the artwork's better. You won't be disappointed.

Once again, that's :iconoutoftheorange:, because there was no good opportunity to show off the icon up there without screwing up the text. :XD:

:fellaright: -- 2. Word Count abrogated!

Originally, I was going to update my LJ with the daily count every time I managed my twenty-minute block, right? But even with as few people as I've got watching me, I was afraid of journalspam -- plus it'd be hell to add up at month's end. So I settled for predating one entry for March 1st and just updating it with each day's count. That worked for a while.

Yet, at this point, I'm once again inclined to measure myself by story progress rather than the amount of words. Don't know why I'm suddenly back there, but. Fact remains that the wordcount daily thing isn't as fulfilling as I thought it'd be, so I'm dropping it for now. It'll be re-enacted if the muse finds enchantment with it again.

Generally, as long as I get in my twenty minutes, I'm alright. And I haven't even been as uptight about that as I expected to be. The muse has found enough enchantment with storyline developments of several different flavors this month that daydreaming has become more enrapturing than scribbling -- and it's been a long time since I last entered that state of being.

:fellaright: -- 3. Roleplay!

More roleplay s##t! Yes, I censored it that time; I wanted to. Anyburgers, SoT-2 has once again started picking up, and there've been some exciting happenings lately. In this month alone, I've gotten more Support Conversations than in all the time I've been there. Maybe because my characters are finally getting involved in something relevant that everyone's not spontaneously dropping out of! No offense to the people in question, mind you. We've got the most devoted folks left, and that means we've got characters that are actually sticking with their plots. That's good beans.

And the developments are such that I'm as excited about what's happening there (and am daydreaming of it just as often) as I am about the positive turns my own creative universe is takin'. Things are lookin' UP!

Now they'll spontaneously combust for no other reason than I said that. *flattened by random satellite*

Kenira's also seeing some good character development too (well, as good as I can give 'er, anyway). As always, I worry that my portrayal of her may be somewhat unrealistic, or worse, not quite human. But nobody seems to care and the "religious loony" excuse might work just fine. We'll see, but so far, I'm lovin' it. One of her Supports has been my most fulfilling RP experience yet.

:fellaright: -- 4. Literary developments!

Not many of these to speak of this time 'round, but again, the progress is slow n' steady. That's better than cancelling altogether. I've had a sense of peace about it all, really.

:fellaright: -- 5. Apologies!

This is regarding Point #6 from my last journal; the one wherein I whined about comments. Regardless of whether or not it was offensive, I wanna apologize anyway -- mainly, for bein' such a baby about it. To tell you the truth, I'm not lookin' for fame or fortune when it comes to my own deviations; a regular audience of my closest friends would suit me fine, I think. Personal reflections and encounters with other deviants' opinions have led me to conclude that as long as I remain at dA, and go about commentin'/favin' things like I always have, things'll be alright. Usually just havin' one or two of my buddies read my stuff's good enough, but most (read: nearly all) of them have been kidnapped by real life. :XD: - - I certainly don't begrudge, but it makes things a wee bit lonely.

And please, please don't think I'm whining again; I'm consciously not, honest. I'm just rambling. :XD: Anyway, the original point: I'm sorry for being such a whiner last time. I was feelin' rather discouraged about it all; probably will again at some point in life. I'll try not to gripe again, though...

To be honest, I was kinda takin' my blessings for granted back there. After all, if the Views counter stayed at zero (or some other single-digit number) for weeks on end, I'd be positively crushed. ^^; - As it is, I should just be thankful that people are looking.

:fellaright: -- 6. Club memberships!

Wh...what's this?! COREY FINALLY JOINED A yeah right

No, really, I did. :XD: I did some scouting around, and found a few clubs that might suit me. I'm already part of the literary beans now, as you might see in my comment signature. Only one of the four clubs I've propositioned has responded; nonetheless, I'll post all the icons in my journal footer. Some of them had my old account as a member; hopefully they'll take me again. :)

:fellaright: -- 7. Memes Akimbo!

Wow. Seven points again? But none of 'em are as long as last time, I reckon. Anypika...

You may remember I lamented about not having memes to do, right? Well...I scouted the internet, see. I found a few, played with them, decided to mix 'em up, used my diceroller...and made something really fun. :D Plus, it's occurred to me to re-do previous memes; add to that the Series meme I was already doing, and the fact I'm only poppin' out one meme per Monthly, and I think I'm gonna be full up a while. :XD: - And that's a good thing. Means plenty to do.

THAT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T WANT TO BE TAGGED. If you see something that looks like a lotta fun, by all means, bounce it my way. Tag me! Can't promise I'll do it, but it's the thought that counts. ^_^ - - Memestuffs are wicked fun (generally speaking), and some help in finding them is always welcome.

:fellaright: -- 8. Eljay's a slump!

This point is perhaps the shortest one here. :XD: The Word Count was the only point and purpose for posting to my LJ; now it's gone back to having no reason for existence, and just sitting there. Oh well. I like my userpics, though! *lame*

...I've got the feeling I'm forgetting something. :O_o: - - As far as I know, that covers all the big stuff (if you can call it big). If I find there's something else to write about, I'll do me a Non-Minor Edit and hope you guys won't mind the spam.

:skull: * * SOLMAN'S SYNTHESIZED CHARACTER MEME, PART 1 * * :skull:

Now, here's the good part. I scoured the internet for some interesting memes to pass the time; at LJ and other places, I scooped up some character memes and ran me guys n' girls through 'em. Then I got it in my head to combine them, and to REALLY have some fun, I made a list of characters and chose the entries by DICEROLL. The meme ended up being fifty-two questions long, so to make things easier for me (and my taggees; YES, THERE WILL BE TAGS), I'm going to break 'em up into thirteen-question blocks. Here's how it works:

Make a list of characters -- preferably OCs and RPCs, but you could add established-canon characters if you're confident in your knowledge of them. Prepare a single dice (using an online dice roller like this one) with a number of sides equal to the amount of characters you chose. Every time a numbered instance shows up in a question, roll the dice to determine the character randomly.

To give you an idea, here's my list.

:bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred:
**RPCs**
1. Corwin
2. Adamas
3. Leto
4. Seri
5. Kenira
6. Selune
7. Aenir
8. Holt
9. Milene
10. Adol (formerly Perva)
:bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred:

:bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue:

12. Kazna
13. Arlia
14. Gursen
15. Tenrei (=FaluuVaud)
16. Wesley (~Blazing-Fool)
17. Scientist Boss (~cedrics)
18. Brianna (~Blazing-Fool)
19. Aericity (*sparkster-chan)
:bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue:

:bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen:
**CCs**
20. Ilyana (Fire Emblem IX)
21. X (Megaman X)

:bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen: :bulletgreen:

Monstrous, huh? :D

You may notice that the numbers on the list and the numbers on my questions are a bit off. That's because I originally did this whole thing with a different list...but then I noticed at the last moment that certain numbers were missing, and people were in wrong columns. This could've invalidated the whole thing if I was inclined to let it, but I had too much fun answering the questions as they were and didn't feel like changing it. So, if the numbers are screwy, that's the reason. I might do an honest-to-goodness rerun of this meme in the future using the current list.

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 1. 23 [Grolla] invites 10 [Adol] and 33 [Rena] to dinner at their house. What happens?

Well, first of all, we'd have to establish exactly where Grolla's "house" is. If such a thing's specified in the original game, I don't know; we'd have to get back to you on that part of it. But for the sake of answering the question, let's assume it's a normal house in a modern-day neighborhood.

Adol, first of all, is positively stoked that he's being invited to a house with two hot girls. I can imagine that he won't try anything too funny with Grolla and her big sword around, though -- and while we're on that topic, Rena's martial arts aren't anything to take lightly either. Good behavior will be required, but that doesn't mean he won't flirt. :XD: As for Rena? She'd certainly be polite enough, but assuming that all the characters on neutral terms, she'd be a bit confused that someone like Grolla would invite her. And it's open to question why Grolla would actually invite anyone for dinner in the first place.

Rena would know to be a good guest, though, and she's trustworthy enough to keep her behavior decent. The same can't be said for Adol. He's a thief by trade, so if he gets the chance to poke around, he might be inclined to wonder what treasures Grolla-lass might be hiding, being the badarse swordswoman she is. Hell, he's not above pawning her signature blade if he can get his hands on it. So, yeah, he's the one sour note. :giggle:

But you asked me what happens, not what would happen, so lemme enter my storybrain and spin a scenario. The three are around the dinner table; Adol tries some flirting, neither girl's impressed. Some lighthearted talk about the day and events, probably started by Rena, since Grolla doesn't strike me as talkative. Adol puts on the smooth, which prompts a sweatdrop or two from Miss Lanford. An interesting interplay, with Rena doing most of the talking. They may touch upon a sensitive subject or two, which gets Grolla in angry-vein mode, but she remains terse rather than popping. Awkward dead-ends abound. Rena takes the hint after a while and goes silent, but likely tries again later.

Adol decides he's gonna get up and go to the bathroom. Rena tries to make friendly talk with Grolla while he's away, but the responses she gets are terse and clipped (because as far as I can tell, that's the kinda gal Grolla is). If there's even the most remote chance for Adol to slip outta the bathroom and do some snooping, he'll probably take it. He doesn't share my compunction against risk. But back to the two girls for a second: I imagine it's not impossible for some kind of dialogue to get going between them if Rena only touches on the right subject. I can imagine it turning into an argument, though, because Rena isn't the type to back down (from what I recall), and Grolla's severity would definitely allow for some shouting. That's a maybe, though.

At best, the whole evening will be mildly better than slightly awkward. At worst, assuming Adol gets caught at his antics, there'll be a big ol' fight. Poor Rena'll likely get caught in the middle, since she doesn't want the other two getting violent, but she'd turn against Adol swiftly after learning what he was up to. Lad's a troublemaker.

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 2. 15 [Kiyone] tries to get 30 [Nina] to go to a strip club. How?

:XD: -- Now this one made me snicker. Why, oh why, would Kiyone ever want to go to a strip club herself, let alone convince someone else? Maybe she was blackmailed or something. And who would want Nina to go to such a place, huh? And why would Kiyone take part in it? These form the foundations of a story, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

Maybe Kiyone would try some fake line about how Nina needs to relax, or something? I dunno. XD -- I have my doubts as to whether or not Kiyone would be good at lying (goin' from what I remember of her, of course). I think this question's gonna have to sit. The question of not only how, but why, would become a story itself.

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 3. You need to stay at a friend's house for the night. Who do you choose, 1 [Corwin] or 26 [Rock]?

The Corwin referenced here is SoT-2 (he was in the roleplay column after all). Bunkin' with Corwin means going to the GM Base; choosing Rock means Dr. Light's lab, or corresponding country home, or whatnot. Definitely the latter; there's modern conveniences, and staying at what's ultimately a mercenary base isn't a great deal of fun.

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 4. 17 [Wesley] and 3 [Leto] are making out, 4 [Seri] walks in. What is their reaction?

Oh, cute. :XD: Something neither of those boys would ever do in a thousand years. Magical compulsion? Oh yes. Seri would probably take off in the other direction, tryin' her darndest to hold her vomit; beorc men in general are unappealing to her, and beorc men slobbering all over each other are even less so. Not that I can blame her; it's a disgusting sight for me too.

I'd be more interested in Leto and Wesley's reactions once the magical compulsion ended and they found their tongues in each other's mouths. XD -- A big magical fight is brewin', oh yes.

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 5. 25 [Eliwood] falls in love with 15 [Kiyone], 20 [Yomi] is jealous. What happens?

Is it creepy of me to say I can see this happening? :XD: Anyway, Yomi strangulates Pansywood for stealing away her Galaxy Police hotness.

Okay, that's the joke answer. XD -- Here's the serious one. Yomi frets, laments, and seethes in private, with Tomo being the only one to see it, of course. And Tomo (bein' Tomo) would bounce between taunting Yomi relentlessly and asking her what the big deal is; Yomi would, of course, fire all kinds of tsundere-type responses back, perhaps even socking Tomo-lass in the face should she go too far. It's happened before.

Then Eliwood and Kiyone cordially agree to dinner whilst Yomi's spying around the corner. Yomilass lets out a horrified gasp, and -- why not -- her glasses spontaneously crack for deliberate comedic effect.

(Gods can do that.)

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 6. 28 [Aericity] dumps you in a dark alleyway. Who comes to your rescue, 3 [Leto], 32 [Minoru] or 27 [Miyuki]?

First of all, I find myself wondering why Aericity would dump me in a dark alleyway. Magical compulsion? Perhaps something to do with the final question on this meme? Who knows. MAYBE IT'S JUST A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING, HUH

Anysparta. Leto would absolutely not rescue me unless there were something in it for him; he'd let me rot. Minoru might come and rescue me, if he could work up the courage, but he could just easily rocket off in the other direction upon seeing something terrifying. (Heart of a lion, that one.) - Better hope Akira's not the one cornerin' me in that alley, huh?

Miyuki, though. While she wouldn't come and rescue me directly, I strongly believe she'd do something sensible -- like dash off to a payphone (if she didn't have a cellphone) and call the police. She's smart enough to know that without a weapon and a great deal of expertise, she'd be at a disadvantage against anything cornering me back there. I can see the poor thing bein' distraught over it.

Of course, all that presumes that there's some other nasty things in that alley with me. If indeed there's not and I'm all alone, my rescuer would depend entirely on who got knowledge of me. Miyuki would do it in a heartbeat, though, because she's nice like that. Minoru? If he knew me and we were friends, yeah. Maybe they come rescue me together, yes?

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 7. 3 [Leto] decides to start a cooking show. Fifteen minutes later, what is happening?

Something is destroyed, something else is on fire and/or overcooked, and the first castmember or audience person to make a snarky remark gets their face lightning'd. Chances are there's a gigantic fire somewhere nearby that Leto's not even aware of.

(I didn't do anything.)

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 8. 18 [Scientist Boss] has to marry either 4 [Seri], 15 [Kiyone] or 9 [Milene]. Who do they choose?

LESBIANS!

Well. If Boss absolutely had to? Seri's a bitch; Milene is too, to a lesser extent. Therefore, the winning choice is Kiyone. Considering the answer to an upcoming meme question, it does kinda make sense. POOR ELIWOOD, HUH, I MEAN WON'T HE BE DISAPPOINTED

IT'S A GREAT BIG (lust) LOVE TRIANGLLLLLLE

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 9. 13 [Arlia] kidnaps 14 [Gursen] and demands something from 27 [Miyuki] for 14's [Gursen's] release. What is it?

Now, what could Miyuki have that Arlia could possibly want? Of course, the fact that Gursen's the one kidnapped probably isn't relevant; Miyuki would be distressed to hear of anyone's kidnapping. Considering that's it's OOC for Arlia to kidnap someone in the first place, a joke answer will probably suffice (or we can blame that goshdarned magical compulsion again)...

Or, hey, the Helm of Opposite Alignment. That always works.

Since Miyuki's rich, Arlia could demand a hefty ransom. My imagination continues from there, but let's stop; we want to keep it realistic and decent.
:iconpervyplz:

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 10. Everyone in 16's [Tenrei's] character block gangs up on her, does 16 [Tenrei] have a chance in hell?

I'm afraid not. Last incarnation, Tenrei was an FE-style shaman; strong magic users, but dreadfully slow. Atomic Bob alone would defeat Tenrei without even really trying; super-strength and super-speed, don'tcha know. No disrespect to the lass, of course, but she honestly would have a hard enough time against a single foe proficient in physical combat unless she really started gainin' those levels...

(In the canon games, throw any ol' FE Shaman against a swordsman of some type to see what I mean firsthand.)

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 11. Everyone is invited to 27 [Miyuki] and 18's [Scientist Boss's] wedding, except for 25 [Eliwood]. How do they react?

So SB decided to marry the rich girl! And it's still LESBIANS! :XD: - Ahem. Anyway, I can imagine Eliwood being disappointed, maybe even a little confused -- I mean, everyone got invited except him? I don't think he'd let it get to him, but I can imagine him being the tiniest bit hurt by it. Just a bit. But he'd eventually shrug it off; he's mature like that.

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 12. 2 [Adamas] arrives late for the above wedding. What happens and why were they late?

Adamas is late because Adamas doesn't care. :XD: -- Any ol' commitment would come before it.

:fellaright: :bulletpink: - 13. Why is 13 [Arlia] afraid of 10 [Adol]?

If there's any logical reason for Arlia to be afraid of Adol (without a storyline event), it would be that he's a flirty and stereotypically-amoral thief sort. And last incarnation, she was a princess. Do the math.

Wh...what's this?! DID COREY FINALLY LEARN TO SHUT UP?! WHY WOULD YOU TELL ME THAT?! :fear: *slams cellphone shut* I hate Jim! :tears:

...Do you hate men named Jim? Whether you do or not, you probably didn't get the above injoke -- and if indeed you didn't, I'm delighted all the same. ^-^

"Wow! Epic journal!" said the ~unusual-fish one day. Why, yes, love. This one is. XD -- It's self-oriented as always, though, so if you don't want to see a lot of :blahblah: about me, you might wanna turn around now. :XD: -- HOWEVER! There ARE two important things that I want to say to the public; they are points 6 and 8 respectively, just below here. Keep scrolling; you'll see 'em.

Yes, I'm aware it's not February yet -- my impatience won out and I wanted to establish this journal now, rather than waiting until the first of February. I've decided to implement some changes in this life of mine, and some occurrences have dotted the map as well. I figure that while I got the head for it, I'm gonna list 'em all right here. I gots numbers!

-------------------------------------------
:bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue: - Life Update - :bulletblue: :bulletblue: :bulletblue:
-------------------------------------------

** SUMMARY **

Annoying. :XD: - A lot of general good things and assorted helpful discoveries this month, but they've been offset by various petty annoyances here and there, some of which had me quite unhappy for a time. This Corey is ashamed by his lack of patience. :( -- But! Hopefully, this is just another step towards a much better journey, yes. Any annoyance is worth the progres (ultimately), however much we complain about it. So, on to the actual updates:

(This'll probably only be funny to me, but for some yuks, imagine that the Announcer Man is notating each numbered sentence like the Batman scene changes. I'm sick. :XD:)

:fellaright: -- 1. dA has a new layout!

Yes, I noticed it just yesterday. Another overhaul of the pages. :XD: But to be honest, I rather like it so far. Everythin' seems more streamlined, and they offered that option to hide public stats like folks wanted (if indeed that function does hide pageviews like I think it does). But what impressed me in particular is the random favorites. They go farther back, and display four per visit as opposed to two -- much better for advertisin' the people whose works I picked up. That change is, right away, the one I'm most impressed with.

And then we got the "reasons for being here" under the dA username and such. XD -- That was tickling. I believe mine are (and have always been) obvious, but they're there now for public viewing. I'm not aware of the full scope of changes (indeed, there might've been some stuff I really loved but forgot to remark on), but I like what I see so far.

Yes, that was completely relevant for a personal journal. Oh yes! :D

:fellaright: -- 2. Dull dailies discontinued!

The last time I was typin' up a Daily, I was thinkin'. It seemed to me that I was spamming a lot of my watchers' journalpages with these wordcounts; I could only imagine how annoying it must be to have my journal pop up in the message center with nothing but a Words Typed box attached to it. Especially on a daily basis. Ugh. - Didn't hit me until late. That day, I was originally going to type an apology in the daily box, and then explain how this was necessary for me to maintain my count.

Then I stopped and thought. Was it?

Not so. See, the dull dailies hardly had anything worthwhile in them. The only relatively important thing in there was the wordcount, and I'm not for imaginin' my watchers care to see that on a daily basis. Was kinda rude to them, I thought. So I pondered it: daily occurrences may warrant a cathartic rant or the like within a journal, but I hardly imagine it's worth my watchers time to have an entire message show up in their watchbays just for that. On the other hand, working on the word counts every day really was helping my progress. So, what to do? I can't remember how I concocted it, but I eventually came to this conclusion:

Livejournal. Yes. LJ has filters, first of all, and not many people are even watching my journal anyway -- so I can freely put my daily thoughts in there without spamming too many peoples' pages. LJ is exclusively a journal service, after all, so it makes more sense to put daily grind there. Out here, I decided that I would instead implement Dull Monthlies, which'll tell you folks how I'm doing in general at the end of the month: a summary of all experiences. It works out, because it means you'll only see my journals once in a while, and they're at least somewhat relevant when you pull 'em up. If you actually want to see the daily shyte, well, then just ask for the LJ. Most of the unimportant crap is public, so no friending is necessary to see daily grinds. X)

Word Counts will also resume there too, and I have an entirely new way I'm going to approach that. With as touch-and-go as it's been this month, I won't be putting a Monthly Count in this February journal; however, expect to see one when March comes 'round.

:fellaright: -- 3. Roleplay!

Yeah, I'm aware this likely isn't relevant to me readers, but hey. It's something to talk about. :XD: That D&D roleplay I talked about in Daily #18? It never happened. And just as well; I don't know if it would've gone anywhere, with how tired I'm feeling...and considering the way my own muse's attention is fluctuating. Roleplay is still enjoyable, but there's a strain and a temporary gasketpop every time I try to make my characters three-dimensional; novel projects are getting all the love right now. The only ones I can stand to play anywhere are the old stand-bys.

SoT-2's Kenira is proving especially despressing. I intended her to be a fiery but kindhearted and level-headed lass, but instead she's turning into a complete religiously-obsessed loony. -_-;; Maybe I should've named her Arlia instead. That would've made things go smoother.

...and do I even need to mention the tragedy that comes about when my characters inevitably inherit my stupid? 'S why I could never play someone cunning. It never goes well when I attempt to play someone smarter and wiser than me. The D&D HBG said it best: "It's hard for someone without much common sense to fake it -- insight into the world around you isn't something that assigning an 18 to Wisdom will give you." No kidding.

Another reason the Genie fantasy from Daily #10 would come in handy. I could dramatically improve my roleplay prowess.

:movingon:

:fellaright: -- 4. Literary developments!

AKA, the reason I'm here. Well, progress is relatively smooth and steady; a lot of personal evolution there, yes. I'm a bit paranoid talking about it, though, for simple fear that I might jinx it and work my way right back into writer's block. I always work best when nobody knows what I'm doing.

That said, I've discovered something that allows me to do a lot better with my writing...and I found it right here at dA, when I was browsing through the lit resources. This link talks mainly about storywriting on an Internet computer (and all the distractions it can offer), but of great interest to me was the 20-Minute Block. The idea of seizing just twenty minutes, every day, and exclusively devoting that time to storywriting on a given project -- and once you spend those minutes, stop, leaving a rough edge to pick up on the next day. See, I've run across this advice in many forms before, back when I was sojourning through the internet for writing advice. But...

This has to be the one instance where the goal's defined by time spent, rather than words reached. It's much less intimidating to tell yourself you're going to write twenty minutes, as opposed to 1300 words, before the day's over. It's a small psychological shift that allows you to gain progress and feel satisfied with whatever you accomplish that day (for the most part), and that does make a difference. I've written on days when I ordinarily would've groaned at the thought of touching my story projects. It's an idea I recommend to anyone who's struggling with writing their stuff.

Speaking of creative endeavors, I've stupidly embarked on the Themes project as a means of providing myself with a fun distraction from all my heavy-duty novelwork. By working on these Themes, I will occasionally have something new to submit for my watchers; that way you're not waiting forever on big fanfiction novel projects I might not ever get done. Which, of course, leads me to the Ten Request Meme...

:fellaright: -- 5. The Corey's a bum!

Yes, a section so important it deserved its own...section. Yes. Anyburgers, you guys remember the Ten Request Meme on this very account, prior to Daily #6. Those requests have been sitting there for a while, and I'm nowhere near done with them. My easily enchanted muse has found diversion enough in current creative projects. I haven't chunked them, but I haven't touched them for a while either. :(

Some of them are drafted, but said drafts are so god-awful I'm considering revising them -- unless you guys don't mind a lighthearted something in the same vein as that last Theme I submitted here. This doesn't seem to be my age for creating masterpieces. >_< -- If you guys are okay with a nonepic depiction of the subject matter, that'll go some way in getting them completed sooner...assuming, of course, my muse finds enchantment with them again.

:fellaright: -- 6. New comment policy!

Thanks almost exclusively to this deviation here. I had been lamenting, once again, my lack of ability to leave completely articulate and well-thought-out commentary when I ran across this piece. I'll probably feel a lot better about givin' out my two-liners now. :XD: -- This emphasizes, once again, that most folks are happy just to get comments in the first place, so long as they're relevant to the work in question. I'll readily admit that I'm in the same boat this artist is.

And, well, if you guys don't mind getting comments of that flavor from me (just a rambly, everyday Corey giving two sentences or so telling you why he digs your piece, without anything mechanical or constructive-crit about it), I'll probably be able to comment a lot more often. I'm able to look at my DevWATCH with renewed vigor because of this. :D

-- Thanks, :iconcozmictwinkie:! --

But now that we're on the topic. If you haven't already looked at =cozmictwinkie's deviation, do it now. And while you're reading her words, pretend it's me, sayin' 'em to you. I don't have quite the same situation; my gallery is nowhere near as big, I don't have people goin' on commentless faving sprees etc...and therefore, I can't quite propose the same compromise (a comment for every five or six faves, and so on). But, I feel the same way she does regarding comments.

I know that a person can only give the kind of commentary their strength, time, and enthusiasm allow for -- I've been there too, just like =cozmictwinkie and probably every user on dA. And God knows I don't want to sound like an asshole about this; I mean, my deviations have a record for Views as well as comments/faves, so I know people are looking at my stuff, and I'm grateful for that. But I'd also like to know what you think. Like Twinkie said, I'm not asking for essays - just one or two sentences relevant to the piece. Nothin' that demands a lot of time or energy; all I want's a completely natural response telling me what your reaction is. What you liked, what you didn't like, what stood out...and again, not necessarily a whole lotta reflection. Just something, y'know? A sentence, maybe two or three if it wouldn't pain you to give it. God knows I'd be grateful.

I know you guys are watching me. I know you guys see these works when they're submitted. For the love of God, say something. Anything in the vein of the above. It'll be the sun on my face for the rest of the day, guaranteed. And not to sound like an ass, but seriously -- I love that you folks are watching me, but what does it mean if you never say anything?

(I will admit to my own hypocrisy here; I've been really awful about comments of that sort too, and in almost all the same ways, near as I can tell. That's why I'm gonna fix my bad habits. It's a new year, after all, and time for a new way -- the above deviation is exactly what inspired me. If you guys don't mind my sucky comments, I'll happily give them to you; apparently I'm not the only one on dA who feels that even partially relevant two-liners are eons better than silence.)

Like I said, I don't mean to sound like a jerk, and I apologize if indeed I'm being one. I'm not of the mind to trample the folks good enough to swing by here. But I would like to see your words more often -- alla you. One or two lines. Please.

I understand you're not going to be able to comment on every work -- which is fine, because I'm not necessarily superproud of everything I submit here. (In fact, half the time, I hate the stuff. :XD:) But being all the way on the extreme end of the spectrum's other side is very unfun. It makes me feel like nobody's listening -- and that, by extension, leads me to believe that nobody cares. Which will then lead me to believe that submitting things to dA is a completely meaningless activity, because if nobody's going to say anything anyway, why bother crafting a new piece? My desire to write anything dies painfully because of this single phenomenon. And if you're wondering what all this big deal about comments is, there's another deviation that explains it well.

I apologize in full sincerity if I ended up sounding like a bigger jerk than I wanted to. I kinda feel bad ranting about all this in the first place, but it's somethin' I felt strongly about. Getting no feedback out here is vexing after a while.

Well, enough of that shit. I've said my mind. :twocents: Time for the next part of the journal.

(...On a sidenote: my messager center needs some serious cleaning out, and when starting my deviation commentary, I'm gonna go for the oldest deviations first. The newer ones might have to wait a bit.)

:fellaright: -- 7. Memes Akimbo!

Here's a lighthearted subject. :D - Imagine that. Anyburgers, dA still has an absence of memes lately. Maybe it's just the fact that my watchlist is smaller, but I don't see 'em anywhere near as much these days. X) - A pity, for they make a fun diversion. On my end, though, I have found a way to deal with that. We'll talk about it in a minute.

I found one really cute deviation recently that featured a Costume Meme. If'n my artist friends out there have the time and inclination, maybe you could try it -- I'd love to see it if you did. :D (well, as long as there was at least one girl involved -- or at least a pair of guy characters I really liked)

Dang, that was shallow. :XD: Sorry. But on the original subject, I've coped with the absence of dA memes/surveys/etc. by going out and finding my own. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck, and the one meme I did find featured OCs. ^^; Which would be wonderful if my OCs were more developed! But, alas not. As before, some of these memes will be lifted from LJ if I find one I like enough; official LJ Writer's Blocks will only occur if I find one on the exact day as the Dull Monthly. The WBs, like the dailies, will be confined to LJ for the most part.

You guys might remember that in the New Year's Entry, I had a pair of memes that I'd been reposting from previous journal entries -- both of which I got off Livejournal. Nobody save one person really commented on those either, but ultimately it was not a big deal; they were based heavily on fandoms, after all, and I realize a lotta folks might not share mine. It's a small matter: utterly insignificant, especially compared to the comments issue, but I will admit to being a little disappointed at first, because they were memes I really wanted to do. It occurred to me, however, that although the memes were contingent on someone addressing me so I could give a response, this wasn't necessary to actually enjoy them.

So. One such meme involved me listing a fandom; the commenter involved would tell me which character from that fandom I most resembled. However, there's no need for me to make this a meme -- it's a question I can just as easily ask someone directly, and fandom need not be an issue. :XD: So, I can still enjoy that. The other meme also involved me listing fandoms, but in this instance the person would pick one and I would respond with a series of characters I liked/disliked/wanted to dance with etc...

So then I realized. Why wait for someone to pick one? I'M GONNA LIST ONE ANYWAY, AND YA'LL ARE GONNA LIVE WITH IT. HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT, HUH

Ok, I'm horsin'. :XD: But it's technically true. Rather than wait to be asked, I'mma just say "the heck" with it and list it. Reader familiarity with fandoms need only be a minor issue; you guys might not know who the hell I'm talking about, but I'll still have fun talking about them! ^__^ - A new fandom will be selected for each Dull Monthly.

:fellaright: -- 8. A Nami Needs Help!

Holy Fredegar Quilldipper, I nearly forgot this one. It's exactly as that subject line says, folks; I got a friend of mine, see, named ~OutOfTheOrange, who's takin' commissions right now.

:XD:

Well, that's it for the life update. TIME FOR THE EXTRA STUFF! *funeral bell toll, collective groan from audience, SaGa Frontier style*

:bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred: - Word Count - :bulletred: :bulletred: :bulletred:

Not this month, but there will be next month. January was too sloppy and disorganized. :blushes: My fault entirely. But March's Dull Monthly will have a complete tally of February's gains.

:bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: - Completed Requests - :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple:
-------------------------------------------

One last round for these guys. Future sections will feature requests done for that month. I'm still not totally sure how I want to handle this section yet, but I'm leaning towards allowing a set amount of requests to stay up until new ones can replace them. I really need to get a subscription, though. I'm thinkin' that I can give those artists more attention if I use thumbnails in the journal -- and perhaps I can do better than that, if I can tinker with that CSS and produce a good layout...

:bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: - Featured Meme - :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink:
-------------------------------------------

The series featured for February is Sakura Wars!

:bulletpink: - Favourite character.

Kohran Ri. Cheongsam, glasses, freckles, and lovely, lovely legs; all my major physical fetishes/weaknesses rolled into one person. Add a healthy bit of daffiness, a good-natured personality, and the right amount of non-sugary sweetness...that's one seriously likeable girl, right there. :XD: - Even if she weren't romantically interested in me, befriending her would be a delight.

:bulletpink: - Least Favourite Character.

Iris. Whiny...little...kid. Not the worst in the business, but still, little kid. And she's semi-romanceable in the original game; who in their right mind would prefer Iris over the rest of the female cast? A close second is Sumire; the stereotypical self-assured mouthy rich bitch.

:bulletpink: - Character with the best hair.

Arguably Sakura. That's some seriously luxurious stuff, right there. Ayame comes pretty close, though...and I do kinda like Kohran's big braids when you get down to it. (Kohran's hair does look gorgeous on the few occasions you see it down, though.)

:bulletpink: - Character with the best eyes.

Toss up between Kohran and Sakura. They're both excessively beautiful in their own ways.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd most want to kiss.

That's a tough one. I default to Kohran simply because she's my most highly desired fictional girl period, but Sakura runs a very close second. The latter's especially kissable, yes, but I'd default to the former if I had to choose between them.

:bulletpink: - Character I'd most want to romance/court.

See above. The only problem is...I think Sakura's underage. Luckily, Kohran's not. ^_^

:bulletpink: - Character I'd make lunch.

Anyone except Iris and Sumire. They'd likely fuss at me if something in the meal wasn't to their liking. -_-

:bulletpink: - Character I'd go singing in the rain with.

Kanna. Don't ask me why. :XD: Or Ohgami. Maybe I could talk them into rainsinging together and leaving me out of it...

:bulletpink: - Character I'd go shopping with.

Sumire if I ever developed a penchant for masochism. Otherwise, Ohgami, although I don't think I'd be particularly helpful to him. I'd also like to go with Kohran, just to see what her tastes are. ^^

:bulletpink: - Character I'd go dancing with.

See the Kiss and Romance questions. I imagine that dancin' with Sakura would be a delight, though. (Assuming, of course, I ever learned how to gracefully dance.)

:bulletpink: - Character I'd take over the world with.

Either Ohgami or Yoneda, because I can trust both of them to be responsible. (They're good guys, though, so takin' over the world might not be something they'd approve of.)

:bulletpink: - Character I'd most want to cosplay as.

Ohgami if I could get my hair to cooperate, but I've seen some of his cosplayers not even bother with his hair. He looks best in his own uniform, but I might be able to pull something similar off. Might. I think I'd be more comfortable in Yoneda's uniform, though.

:bulletpink: - Favorite Het Pairing.

Sakura Wars ain't known for its eligible males. Ohgami/Ayame, probably.

:bulletpink: - Favorite Yaoi Pairing.

Ohgami/Yoneda, for laughs. XD

:bulletpink: - Favorite Yuri Pairing.

...I don't got one. Sorry.

That's all for now, folks. Cheers. :ahoy:

Program terminated.
